The flesh is bright yellow, juicy, and intensely sweet. It is recommended to soak peeled pineapple in saltwater before consumption to remove the stinging sensation that some may feel after eating the pineapple.           • Golden pineapple is moderately sensitive to ethylene, a naturally occurring gas that regulates ripening. Ethylene exposure slightly shortens pineapple shelf life. Golden pineapple produces a low level of ethylene.
          • Golden pineapple is sensitive to chilling injury after prolonged storage or storage below 45°F (7°C). Symptoms include aging leaves (wilting, drying, and discoloration), darkcore, and water-soaked flesh. Sometimes, symptoms are not apparent until a return to the higher temperature.
